The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, arrived today in San Antonio del Sur, one of the municipalities in the province of Guantánamo (east) hardest hit by Hurricane Oscar to learn first-hand about the situation there.
In that territory he inquired about the progress of recovery and the reactivation of vital services, and spoke with residents about the experience of the meteor’s passage.
The head of State, accompanied by several ministers and officials from Central State Administration Organizations and the main authorities of the province, confirmed to those present that the State and the Government, together with the Cuban people, are committed to recovering the damages. .
Díaz-Canel checks on the ground the most agile and efficient ways to resolve the problems generated by the hurricane and guarantee care for the victims and the Guantanamo population, Cubadebate reported.
According to Alberto López, Minister of the Food Industry, the delegation reached the Acopio neighborhood, where flooding persists due to the intense rains that have fallen in this part of the eastern territory, while the accounting for damage to different crops continues.
