President of College of Surgeons Urges Caution Amid Surge in Acute Respiratory Cases and Availability of COVID Variant Vaccines in Aguascalientes

Guillermo Llamas Esperón, president of the College of Surgeons, reported that all hospitals are treating emergency cases and, in the offices, doctors treat a considerable number of acute respiratory conditions. Many of these cases are likely related to the new COVID variants.
The specialist stressed the importance of the population continuing to take precautionary measures, even in the face of symptoms that could be attributed to common colds.
He explained that the lack of testing in some patients contributes to the spread of the virus. In many cases, people assume they have the flu and do not get tested, which could result in a chain of infections, affecting a large number of people.
He emphasized the need for the community to isolate itself, adopt containment measures and, most importantly, get vaccinated against the virus. He reported that vaccines designed to deal with the new variants of COVID are now available in Aguascalientes, including the Pfizer vaccine, which is third-generation monovalent.
When asked about the cost of the Pfizer vaccine, Llamas Esperón indicated that it varies depending on the location, with prices ranging between 850 and 1,200 pesos. In addition, he pointed out that for those who cannot bear this cost, there are other options available in the health sector, such as vaccines of Cuban, Chinese and Russian origin.
