Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists on social media shared pictures of Chinese President Xi Jinping receiving French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, which sparked interaction.
Activists highlighted the huge table at which the Chinese president received European officials, which they likened to the large table at which Russian President Vladimir Putin received his French counterpart Macron at the beginning of the Russian military crisis in Ukraine.
It is reported that Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said in previous statements that Macron will meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping and hold talks with him “to plan and chart the course of bilateral relations, strengthen cooperation, and conduct an in-depth exchange of views on major international and regional hot issues.”
“The healthy and stable development of China-EU relations is in line with our common interests and conducive to world peace and stability,” Mao said, speaking of von der Leyen’s visit. “The two sides should uphold mutual respect and win-win cooperation, overcome troubles and adversities, and focus on to build consensus and cooperation.
