The president of the Executive Hydroelectric Commission of the Lempa River (CEL), Daniel Álvarez, recently denied a publication in a printed media that states that the level of the reservoirs has been reduced in recent months, causing a decrease in renewable energy.
“Always La Prensa Gráfica lying to Salvadorans. Currently, the levels of the reservoirs are in optimal conditions for the time; What’s more, we have restricted energy exports to take care of the resource and avoid critical situations,” Álvarez said on his social networks.
At the same time, he stated that the “bad intention is so great that they took data from March, when today is May, with completely different conditions due to the measures we have taken with the entire electricity sector.”
“Salvadorans should rest assured, because we have enough resources to generate, transmit and distribute electrical energy for more than 2 million users… We are taking measures to maintain this condition,” the official concluded.
