President of Belarus Calls for Negotiated Solutions at CSTO Summit

Problems need to be resolved at the negotiating table, and not made demarches without reason. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced this today, November 23, at a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

According to him, at the summit in a narrow format, the heads of state assessed how the situation in the world affects security. Issues of resolving crisis situations in the regions adjacent to the OKDB area of ​​responsibility were also discussed.

“All members of the Collective Security Council noted that the current international situation is characterized by a high degree of confrontation and polarization, requiring us to further consolidate our efforts and strengthen our organization as an important factor in ensuring security in the Eurasian region,” he said.

At the same time, the Belarusian leader drew attention to the fact that, in accordance with the order of the organization, the chairmanship of the CSTO will pass to Kazakhstan from January 1, 2024.

“We also discussed the situation in the Caucasus and the dissatisfaction of one of the members of the Collective Security Council. We came to a common conclusion that problematic issues have always existed, will always exist, and if we intend to resolve them, then they must be resolved at the negotiating table, and not make demarches for no reason,” Lukashenko emphasized and expressed hope that at the events in St. Petersburg Through the CIS and EAEU, you will be able to see Armenian friends.

Let us remind you that today a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council is being held in Minsk. All leaders of the organization’s member countries attended the summit, with the exception of Armenia. In Yerevan they justified their decision by saying that they wanted to “give themselves and the CSTO time to think about future plans.”
