Argentine President Alberto Fernandez received, on Thursday, the first dose of the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine at a hospital in the capital, Buenos Aires, the presidential office said.
The health authorities agreed to vaccinate people over the age of sixty years with the vaccine, and the 61-year-old president said in a tweet on Twitter: “Vaccination helps us gain immunity in the face of Corona, let’s get vaccinated.”
The Russian vaccine is now widely used in Latin America. So far, more than 240,000 people have received the Sputnik Vaccine.
Russia also sells its vaccine to Hungary, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Bolivia, Serbia and Venezuela.
