Hanoi (VNA) – President of the Republic Nguyên Xuân Phuc on Sunday (February 27) paid tribute to the contributions of health workers on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors’ Day.
The Party, state and people always bear in mind and always honor the contributions of health workers, he said when meeting with representatives of exemplary medical workers in Hanoi.
The leader highly appreciated their contributions, role, efforts and sacrifices in caring for the health of the people, especially over the past two years, and asked them to redouble their efforts to help contain effectively the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.
The image of health workers dedicated to their work is deeply ingrained in the minds of the Vietnamese people, he said.
He welcomed their achievements in recent years, and reminded them to constantly improve their expertise in order to meet current requirements, and to resolutely combat and roll back any negative phenomenon.
President Nguyên Xuân Phuc also called for continued attention to the lives of health workers, especially those in economically disadvantaged areas, high-risk environments, to alleviate their difficulties both in the immediate and long term.
He asked the competent authorities to make digital transformation a top priority for the sector, and stressed that it must be done more urgently, faster and stronger to meet the demands and expectations of society, not only by serving the Vietnamese people, but also by transforming health into an important economic sector. – VNA
