President Mexico says he believes COVID-19 vaccine could begin to be used in first quarter 2021

The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, said this Sunday that he considers that it could start to use a vaccine against COVID-19 in the country in the first quarter of next year.

“It will be universal (…) within everyone’s reach”, the president said in a video posted on his Twitter account.

“It is very likely that from November we will have the results of the vaccine against # COVID19. If so, a universal and free vaccination campaign would take place immediately, ”says the text that accompanies the video.

The undersecretary of Multilateral Affairs of the Mexican Foreign Ministry, Martha Delgado, said in an interview with Reuters on Friday afternoon that Mexico estimates it will need about 200 million doses of a vaccine to immunize its population against the coronavirus, of about 120 million people.
