President Macron’s visit to Lund ended by visiting a student evening in Lund. There, 200 students waited for over an hour for the president, who was a little late.
But once there, the students got to ask Macron questions. Felicia Comstedt and Johanna Forssen were two of those who visited the event.
– I didn’t ask a question, but I probably wouldn’t have dared either, says Felicia Comstedt and laughs.
The questions put to the president were mainly about the war in Ukraine and the climate crisis.
– There are many young people here tonight, so I wanted to ask the president about his hope and faith in the future, says student Alfred Hjelmhammar.
Visited research facility with the king
Earlier on Wednesday, Emmanuel Macron, together with the king, visited ESS in Lund. The research facility is a neutron source that can be compared to a huge microscope, where neutrons are used to analyze samples at the atomic and molecular level.
Up to a hundred people were on hand to welcome the president.
On site, Macron received a presentation of the research being conducted at ESS and then he visited the accelerator tunnel at the facility. There he and the king got to start the new part of the particle accelerator together.
