Brazilian President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Thursday unveiled the names of 16 new ministers who will join his cabinet from January 1, 2023, in addition to the five ministers already appointed.
Lula’s government will include a total of 37 ministers, of which 16 are expected to be announced next week.
The president-elect has indicated that the work of his future government will make it a priority to make the federal budget accessible to the poorest sections of the population.
Ahead of the announcement, the transition team, led by Vice-President-elect Geraldo Alckmin, presented its final report, detailing the financial and operational situation, which will not allow ministers to increase personal spending.
Among the ministers announced are women, people of African descent and anti-racism activists.
