President Andrés Manuel López Obrador once again defended the content of the new free textbooks, in the face of criticism that they are a “communist virus”, as expressed by TV Azteca news presenter Javier Alatorre.
In his morning conference this Friday, August 4, at the National Palace, López Obrador guaranteed the distribution of textbooks.
In the Treasury Room, he announced that next Tuesday evening press conferences will begin at the National Palace to analyze the content of free textbooks and will be led by the head of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), Leticia Ramírez Amaya, and specialists.

President López Obrador said that he will show invoices from publishers “that were from the time of Zedillo, they were dedicated to making books.”
“There were Spanish publishers, contracts that were obtained for that purpose, and at the same time, well, it was guaranteed that the newspapers of that publisher spoke well of the government,” said the President.
“Review the books and let us know who did it, who are teachers, who are pedagogues, specialists in all subjects. *Book by book*,” he stated.
The conferences to inform the content will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Treasury Room of the National Palace.
