President Andrés Manuel López Obrador celebrated that the Patria vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes covid-19, has been approved by specialists. “The Mexican Patria vaccine against COVID-19 has already been approved by specialists. Congratulations to the researchers from CONAHCYT—National Council of Humanities, Science and Technology—and Avimex,” the president indicated last Sunday on his social networks.
Just on Friday, the New Molecules Committee of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) gave its favorable opinion for the biological that can be used to immunize people over 18 years of age. This topic is undoubtedly relevant, because it speaks of the great work of Mexican science, whose researchers worked to ensure that the population has access to this immunization.
This achievement of our country’s medicine, promoted by the Mexican president, also stings the retrograde neoliberals, who, day in and day out, try to discredit the work of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. They no longer know what to invent, where to get negatives, where to carry mud to dent the very high popularity of the man who directs the destiny of the Fourth Transformation.
In the case of this vaccine, for example, Arturo Reyes, member of the New Molecules Committee (CMN), recognized that this vaccine is effective and has an immediate immunity response to COVID-19; It is safe and does not present risks to the population. “The written documentation and the presentation were very clear and supported,” added Lena Ruiz, also a member of the CMN.
“It allows us to assume that there is sufficient evidence to consider (‘Patria’) a safe vaccine. All the results, both preclinical and clinical and in the different phases, showed that there were no significant adverse events. Therefore, we could consider it as a safe vaccine,” stated Miguel Ángel Guevara, to silence the voices of those who have considered this biological as a “duck.”
In the end, what the doomsayers of disaster are trying to do is to discredit the efforts of a government that came to take away, forever, the privileges they held. What is very clear is that the people, the citizens, the town, were never interested.
PEMEX, stronger than ever
Statistics from Petróleos Mexicanos released at the end of the year indicate that the parastatal’s liquid hydrocarbon production amounted to an average of one million 866 thousand barrels per day during 2023, this is 5.1 percent more than the production in 2022. when it was one million 764 thousand barrels per day.
This indicates that last year hydrocarbon production did not fall below the barrier of one million 800 thousand barrels per day and that the average annual increase was 91 thousand barrels per day, the largest increase recorded in the six-year period.
Pemex began the current six-year period with a slight upward trend since 2019, but in 2023 its production managed to consolidate the increase and overcome the barrier of one million 800 thousand barrels per day, a level that it maintained throughout the year, thanks to the entry into production of new fields that host important producing wells, mainly Quesqui and Tupilco.
So, for the doomsayers of disaster, we insist, PEMEX is stronger than ever and the energy route taken by the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has been the correct one.
