During his working visit to Banyumas, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also visited a shopping center. A number of residents, aware of Jokowi’s arrival, also greeted him.
As reported by the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Thursday (4/1/2024), Jokowi visited RITA SuperMall Purwokerto. Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi.
Jokowi’s presence was greeted enthusiastically by residents. “Mr Jokowi, Mr President,” they called Jokowi.
One of the visitors, Devasya, said Jokowi was an extraordinary figure. He was amazed that Jokowi wanted to gather together with the general public.
“It’s really extraordinary, to be able to gather with the people here together, it’s extraordinary,” he added.
Another visitor, Dewi, assessed that Jokowi’s activities, which always mingle with the community, show that he is a populist figure.
“The people are really populist, really salute them,” he said.
After 1 hour of walking around, Jokowi and the ministers then returned to the hotel where they spent the night while in Banyumas Regency.
