President Jokowi’s Public Lecture at Georgetown University: Prioritizing Education and Collaboration with Indonesia

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave a public lecture on Georgetown UniversityWashington DC Jokowi revealed that this was his first public lecture at a university in America.

“This is the first time I have spoken at a university in America and that is Georgetown University. There are two reasons for me, first because this is a good university, Top. Applause for Georgetown University,” said Jokowi as seen on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account, Tuesday ( 11/14/2023).

Jokowi then revealed Indonesia’s collaboration with Georgetown University. Jokowi said Georgetown University would build a campus in Indonesia next year. He hoped that the plan would not go backwards.

“Secondly, Indonesia and Georgetown will collaborate and Georgetown will open a campus in Indonesia next year.
Hopefully it doesn’t go backwards,” he said.

Jokowi said education is a priority for Indonesia. Moreover, Indonesia will experience a demographic bonus in 2030.

“Education is one of Indonesia’s priorities because in the 2030s Indonesia will experience a demographic bonus so that the quality of human resources will be a determining factor,” he said.

He then hopes that graduates of Georgetown University in Indonesia will become president like Bill Clinton.

“I hope that graduates of Georgetown University Indonesia will also become president like Mr. Bill Clinton,” he said.
