President Jokowi urges the House of Representatives and state ministries to pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill to combat corruption crimes.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo of Indonesia has called for the Asset Forfeiture Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset) to be quickly passed by the House of Representatives (DPR) and state ministries. The bill would provide a legal basis for asset confiscation to aid law enforcement officials dealing with corruption crimes. There has been increasing pressure to pass the bill following revelations about state officials and their wealth. Currently, House of Representatives legislators are unable to push the bill without permission from the general chairman of a political party represented in the DPR RI.
