President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) got an event invite G7 Summit Of Hiroshima, Japan. Jokowi confirmed to attend.
This was revealed by Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in a press statement broadcast on MoFA Indonesia’s YouTube account, Sunday (14/5/2023). Retno initially revealed that she had made a one-day visit to Stockholm, Sweden and met with 22 foreign ministers.
“On the sidelines of the meeting, I held meetings with 22 Foreign Ministers or the Foreign Minister equivalent. And given the very short time, the majority of bilateral meetings are held in a pull-side format,” he said.
“Meetings I had with Sweden, Maldives, Latvia, Sri Lanka, Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Austria, Romania, Cyprus, Finland, Fiji, India, Croatia, Lithuania, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Japan, France, Malaysia, United Kingdom, United States of America. , and also with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the European Union or we often call it the HRVP of the European Union,” Retno continued.
The bilateral meeting of the foreign ministers had a special nature. One of them is related to Jokowi’s preparations for the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan.
“With the Japanese Foreign Minister regarding preparations for the G7 Summit in Hiroshima where Indonesia was invited and the President plans to attend,” said Retno.
Retno also revealed that at the summit Jokowi would meet with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss bilateral cooperation.
“With France, plans were discussed for a 2+2 meeting between the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Ministers of the two countries which had been postponed and plans for a bilateral meeting between President Macron and President Jokowi on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in Hiroshima this month,” he said.
