President Jokowi Summons Minister Erick Thohir to Discuss Football Development in Indonesia

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) summoned the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir to the State Palace this afternoon. What was discussed?

monitoring detikcom, Erick arrived at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, around 15.40 WIB, Friday (28/4/2023). Erick entered through the lobby of the Ministry of State Secretariat (Setneg).

The meeting lasted about an hour. When he was going home, the car with RI 45 plates that picked him up several times tricked journalists who were waiting for Erick to leave.

Erick’s car, which had been on standby in the lobby of the State Secretariat, was suddenly moved to another door. Reporters were then waiting at the door. However, not long after, the car was moved again. It turned out that Erick came out from the back door of the State Secretariat.

When asked whether his presence this afternoon was to discuss political issues with Jokowi, Erick just answered briefly. Erick said nothing.

“There’s nothing, there’s nothing,” said Erick when he left the State Secretariat. Erick was asked if there was any political discussion during his meeting with Jokowi this afternoon.

Confirmed separately, Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media, Presidential Secretariat, Bey Machmudin, explained Erick’s presence to report to President Jokowi. The report, said Bey, was related to the development of football in the country.

“Earlier, Mr. Erick reported to the President regarding the development of football in the country. Mr. Erick just met Mr. President today because he had just returned from Umrah,” Bey told reporters.
