Jakarta –
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) ordered the Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani Indrawati to pay off the state debt to Perum Bulog amounting to IDR 16 trillion. Responding to this, Sri Mulyani said payments could only be made after an audit from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
“Bulog’s bill is our mechanism with Bulog and Bapanas. We will make payments after there is a BPKP audit,” he said in a press conference at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Monday (6/11/2023).
Therefore, the state treasurer asked BPKP to carry out an audit more quickly, so that the bill could be immediately submitted to the Ministry of Finance. This bill is for the procurement of government rice reserves.
“So BPKP was asked to audit more quickly so that the bill could be submitted to us, but this should not be a problem, Bulog Bapanas can get a budget for rice imports and market operations using banking funds which we will then pay,” he added.
Previously, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that in a limited meeting, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had asked Sri Mulyani to pay bills worth IDR 16 trillion.
“Earlier, the president’s direction was that the Minister of Finance (Sri Mulyani Indrawati) was asked to immediately pay off the Bulog bill which had accumulated IDR 16 trillion,” said Airlangga after holding a limited meeting at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Monday (6/11/2023).
Airlangga explained that Bulog itself needed an additional budget for rice procurement worth IDR 19.1 trillion.
“From Bulog there is a need for additional budget, namely for the first stage it needs IDR 7.9 trillion, then the second stage IDR 8.4 trillion, and there is an additional amount related to distribution and others amounting to IDR 2.8 trillion. So there is IDR 19.1 trillion ,” explained Airlangga.
