President Jokowi Meets with Golkar Party Chair Airlangga Hartarto to Discuss Presidential Election and Economic Matters

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, confirmed that he had met President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Botanical Gardens, Bogor, Saturday (6/1/2024).

Airlangga said that his meeting with the number one person in Indonesia was held while walking and having breakfast together.

“This morning I walked and had breakfast,” said Airlangga at the Golkar Party Consolidation event, Bogor, Saturday (6/1/2024).

According to Airlangga, his meeting with Jokowi discussed many things, including the Presidential Election.

However, the Chairman of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) Steering Committee was reluctant to reveal details of his discussions regarding the presidential election with Jokowi.

“In the presidential election, there will be discussions, but what is discussed is confidential,” said Airlangga.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs added that his meeting with Jokowi also discussed economic matters in Indonesia.

“Yes, of course there are many things that can be discussed with him, including sustainability programs and economic targets for 2024 and this coincidentally is at the beginning of the year, the first week of 2024, so we have a lot to discuss,” he said.

Some of the economic issues discussed were the economic growth target, related to the completion of national strategic projects, related to poverty reduction which is targeted to approach zero.

“And we will also have activities related to infrastructure projects that we will carry out in the future,” he said.

Last night, Jokowi and Prabowo had dinner together at the Seribu Rasa Restaurant, Menteng, Jakarta, last Friday evening.

Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana admitted that he did not know anything about the topics discussed by Jokowi and Prabowo at the meeting.

“I don’t know what he was talking about while having dinner. He said the Indonesian food at the restaurant was delicious,” said Ari, Friday night.
