President Jokowi Leads MotoGP Parade in Jakarta

Dorna Sports confirmed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who will lead the parade of racers MotoGP in Jakarta, March 16, ahead of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP.

A total of two racers, including 16 from the MotoGP class, will parade on the streets of Jakarta with Jokowi. Famous racers such as Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia will follow the parade.

Dorna as the manager of MotoGP in an official statement confirmed that President Jokowi would lead the parade in Jakarta. The parade was held to celebrate MotoGP’s return to Indonesia after 25 years of absence.

“25 years have passed since the last time MotoGP in all its glory held a race in Indonesia. To mark the long-awaited moment, the organizers will hold a show that will never be forgotten by the people of Jakarta,” Dorna wrote in an official release.

“For the first time, 20 riders [16 MotoGP, 2 Moto2, 1 Moto3, 1 IATC] will take to the streets in central Jakarta with the leader of the parade, none other than the President of Indonesia himself, “continued Dorna.

Until now, there is no official route for the Jokowi parade with MotoGP racers which will start and end at the Merdeka Palace. However, it is certain that the route that will be traversed is 5 kilometers and Jokowi will receive a souvenir from representatives of MotoGP racers.

“After the 5-kilometer route, the racers will join President Jokowi to take a group photo at the Merdeka Palace, the heart of the Indonesian government,” Dorna wrote.

“Team representatives will then present a unique gift to the hosts in the form of a framed official team shirt signed by the star racer of each team,” Dorna wrote.

Live streaming of MotoGP Mandalika can be seen through CNNIndonesia.com. Meanwhile, the Mandalika MotoGP live broadcast will be broadcast by Trans7.
