JAKARTA, KOMPAS. TV – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued Presidential Regulation No.73 of 2020 concerning the Coordinating Ministry for Politics, Law and Security (Kemenko Polhukam).
In Presidential Regulation No.73 of 2020, State Intelligence Agency (BIN) is no longer under coordination Kemenko Polhukam.
Thus it is written Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Mahfud MD in his official Twitter account, @mohmahfudmd, Saturday (07/18/2020) as quoted by Kompas.com.
Mahfud MD revealed, after not under his coordination, BIN will be directly under the President. “Because state intelligence products are more directly needed by the President,” explained Mahfud.

Although directly under the President, each ministry coordinator can request intelligence information from BIN. “As the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security, I always get information from the Head of BIN and often ask BIN to give explanation at the meetings of the Ministry of Coordinating Affairs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy VII for Communication and Information at BIN, Wawan Hari Purwanto, confirmed that the agency had shifted, from the Coordinating Ministry for Politics and Security to the President directly.
