On Monday, Indonesian President Joko Widodo distributed Government Rice Reserves (CBP) as food assistance in Bulog warehouse, Sukoharjo District, Central Java. The government will distribute 10 kilograms of rice per month to beneficiary families until the end of the year, with a total of 21.3 million KPM families receiving assistance. President Widodo hopes that the food assistance will help reduce the price of rice, as the harvest season is still ongoing in several provinces. Additionally, the government plans to continue importing rice to ensure strategic reserves in anticipation of weather phenomena.
The President also noted that the prices of staple goods ahead of Eid al-Fitr are currently stable due to a stable supply and production. The prices of several commodities have gone down, including cayenne pepper, eggs, and chicken meat. The certainty of prices during Eid will depend on the supply of goods. Food assistance is one of the semi-market operations that the government is implementing to help the community.
