President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) opened his voice about the many complaints related to the community Greater Jakarta LRT the disruption has not been commercially operational for a week. Jokowi said that people should be proud of domestic products, this is mass transportation such as the Greater Jakarta LRT.
Moreover, according to him, this is the first time that Indonesia has the first LRT Jabodebek which is controlled without a driver.
“That this is the first time we have LRT without a driver, everything is operated operationally control center. So I repeat again, if we don’t dare to use domestic products in this case the LRT, when are we going to try? When will we dare to start?” he said after holding the opening of the HIPMI National Working Meeting at ICE BSD, Tangerang, Thursday (31/8/2023).
Jokowi emphasized that if there were any deficiencies during the operation and design, an evaluation with the relevant companies was required. In this case Jokowi alluded to PT INKA as the manufacturer of the Jabodebek LRT train and operator of PT KAI.
“That there is a deficiency, yes it is corrected, that is a deficiency, we will evaluate it. And evaluate it from INKA from KAI,” he said.
Jokowi also compared Greater Jakarta LRT with trains like those owned by France, namely Train à Grande Vitesse (TGV) and Japanese trains, the Shinkansen. According to him, the sophistication of the two trains also went through a long process.
“But if we don’t dare to think like TGV, the Shinkansen will immediately become good. Wow, it took years, decades,” he said firmly.
For this reason, Jokowi appealed to the public not tobully domestic products in this case mass transportation such as the Greater Jakarta LRT.
“Don’t-bully our own product. Who else wants to be proud if we don’t use it. Isn’t that right?” he insisted.
“Sometimes there is a traffic jam, yes fix it, if there is a design flaw, fix it like that,” he concluded.
