President Jokowi Appoints 12 Indonesian Ambassadors for Friendly Countries

President Joko Widodo, also known as Jokowi, has appointed 12 ambassadors for friendly countries in Indonesia. Among those appointed is Teuku Faizasyah, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The inauguration ceremony took place at the State Palace in Central Jakarta on Monday, June 26, 2023. The event was attended by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno and Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi.

The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem, ‘Indonesia Raya’. Following that, the decision letters were read, and then Jokowi led the reading of the oath, which was followed by the appointed officials.

During the oath, Jokowi read, “That I will be appointed as ambassador extraordinary and full-power (LBBP) will be loyal to the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia Year 1945 and will carry out all the laws and regulations directly for the sake of my Dharma Bakti to the nation and the country.” This oath was then followed by the appointed ambassadors.

Apart from Teuku Faizasyah, other notable appointments include Meidyatama Suryodiningrat, the Main Director of Perum LKBN Antara, and Michael Trias Kuncahyono, a former senior journalist from Kompas.

The 12 Indonesian Ambassadors appointed are as follows:

1. Teuku Faizasyah – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Norway and Iceland, domiciled in Oslo.
2. Michael Trias Kuncahyono – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Holy See, domiciled at the Vatican.
3. Achmad Rizal Purnama – Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Turkiye, domiciled in Ankara.
4. Arief – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Ukraine concurrently with the Republic of Armenia and Georgia, domiciled in Kyiv.
5. Achmad Ubaedillah – Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam, domiciled in Bandar Seri Begawan.
6. Santo Darmosumarto – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Cambodia, domiciled in Phnom Penh.
7. Grata Endah Werdaningtyas – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, domiciled in Vientiane.
8. I Gede Ngurah Swajaya – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Swiss Confederation concurrently the Principality of Liechtenstein, domiciled in Bern.
9. Dupito Dorma Simamora – Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Fiji accredited to the Republic of Kiribati, the Republic of Nauru, and Tuvalu, domiciled in Suva.
10. Meidyatama Suryodiningrat – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Romania accredited to the Republic of Moldova, domiciled in Bucharest.
11. Ricky Suhendar – Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Peru, concurrently the Plurinational State of Bolivia, domiciled in Lima.
12. Saud Purwanto Krisnawan – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of South Africa with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Botswana, the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Kingdom of Eswatini, and the Southern African Development Community (SADC), domiciled in Pretoria.

This appointment of ambassadors aims to strengthen diplomatic relations between Indonesia and these friendly countries.

5. Prof. Dr. Andi Alifian Mallarangeng, S.H., LL.M – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the People’s Republic of China, domiciled in Beijing.

6. Ratna Ludiawaty Kusumah Wardhani – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Swiss Confederation, domiciled in Bern.

7. Meidyatama Suryodiningrat – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Singapore, domiciled in Singapore.

8. Chintya F. Octoriani – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Poland, domiciled in Warsaw.

9. Reza Pahlevi – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Arab Republic of Egypt, domiciled in Cairo.

10. Prof. Dr. Navroji A. Setyawati, M.Si. – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Republic of Djibouti, domiciled in Addis Ababa.

11. Ledyawati Kisno – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, domiciled in Brussels.

12. Radja Nasution – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Australia and the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, domiciled in Canberra.

These appointments are part of President Jokowi’s efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between Indonesia and friendly nations. The ambassadors will be responsible for representing Indonesia’s interests in their respective countries and promoting bilateral cooperation in various sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, and culture.

The ceremony at the State Palace marked the official start of their diplomatic missions. With their expertise and experience, the newly appointed ambassadors are expected to contribute to the advancement of Indonesia’s foreign policy objectives and enhance the country’s global standing.
