President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) met face to face with Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto. The meeting between the two was surrounded by the atmosphere of dinner at a restaurant in the Central Jakarta area.
“Tonight, Mr. President relaxed for a moment trying Indonesian cuisine at the Menteng Thousand Flavors Restaurant. At dinner, the President was accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Mr. Prabowo Subianto,” said the President’s Special Staff Coordinator, Ari Dwipayana, to journalists, Friday (5/1/2024) .
Prabowo wore batik clothes, while Jokowi wore a white shirt and black trousers. The two of them were alone sitting at a table. Prabowo and Jokowi seemed to be discussing something.
Ari admitted that he did not know what the two discussed.
“I don’t know what he was talking about while having dinner. He said that the Indonesian food at the restaurant was delicious,” he continued.

The meeting between the two was interpreted and responded to in various ways by various parties. Not a few think that the meeting between the two shows a portrait of Jokowi’s support in the 2024 presidential election.

Anies, Cak Imin and the AMIN National Team Respond Relaxed
Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan, said that Jokowi’s meeting with Prabowo was normal. He also responded casually to the meeting.
Anies interpreted the meeting Jokowi with Prabowo as the President’s meeting with his ministers.
“Yes, this is a minister and the president. Yes, that’s okay,” said Anies when met at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (5/1).
“These are the people on duty, one is on duty, one is serving as president, one is serving as minister, then there is a meeting, so that’s fine, there’s no problem,” he added.

The same thing was conveyed by vice presidential candidate number 2, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin. Cak Imin said the meeting was a normal thing between the President and his ministers.
“It’s just normal for ministers and presidents,” said Cak Imin to journalists in Jombang, Saturday (6/1).
