President Joko Widodo Appoints Budi Arie Setiadi as Ad Interim Minister of Foreign Affairs

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – President Joko Widodo appointed the Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, as Ad Interim Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu).

This appointment was made through letter number B-69/M/D-3/AN.00.03/01/2024 which was signed by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.

The letter was addressed directly to Budi Arie Setiadi. The letter also received confirmation from Budi Arie directly.

“We respectfully inform you that the President is pleased to appoint the Minister of Communication and Information as Ad Interim Minister of Foreign Affairs while the Minister of Foreign Affairs is on an official trip abroad from 21 to 22 January 2024,” wrote a copy of the letter, quoted on Saturday (20/1 /2024).

The appointment was made because Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi was on an official trip to New York, United States, on January 21-22 2024.

“Regarding the letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs number 017/BK/01/2024/01 dated January 17 2024, which was addressed to the President, regarding the Application for an Official Travel Permit to New York, United States,” explained the letter.
