Jakarta –
President of the United States (US) Joe Biden said the Govt Palestine in the end it is the one who must rule Gaza Strip and the West Bank after the Israel-Hamas war. Biden said Gaza and the West Bank must be reunited.
“As we work toward peace, Gaza and the West Bank must be reunited under one governing structure, ultimately under a revitalized Palestinian authority, as we all work toward a two-state solution,” Biden said in an opinion article in the Washington Post reported Al-ArabiyaSunday (19/11/2023).
“There can be no forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, no re-occupation, no siege or blockade, and no territorial reduction,” said Biden.
Biden used the op-ed to answer a question about what America wants for Gaza once the conflict is over.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel must maintain ‘overall military responsibility’ in Gaza ‘for the foreseeable future.’
Biden also said the United States was ready to issue a visa ban on ‘extremists’ who attack civilians in the West Bank. Violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers against Palestinians living in the Israeli-occupied West Bank has increased since Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7.
“I reiterate to Israel’s leaders that extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank must stop and those who perpetrate the violence must be held accountable,” Biden said.
The West Bank, home to 3 million Palestinians living among more than half a million Jewish settlers, has been restive for more than 18 months, raising international concern as violence escalated after October 7.
