The President of the United States (USA) Joe Biden called a ceasefire Gaza, Palestine could be made immediately if Hamas frees the Israeli hostages. Hamas immediately condemned Biden’s statement.
“There will be a truce tomorrow if Hamas disperses its hostilities,” Biden said at a fundraising event in Seattle, United States, reported by AFP, Sunday (12/5/2024).
Mr Biden responded to the ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas, after previously avoiding the subject at three similar events on Friday (10/5).
Biden said the ceasefire is now up to Hamas. Peace process in Gaza it can be done immediately if Hamas has released all Israeli hostages.
“Israel says it’s up to Hamas, if they want to do it, we can end it tomorrow. And the cease fire starts tomorrow,” said Biden.
This latest statement from Biden came amid plans for an Israeli military attack on the Rafah area. On Wednesday (8/5) Biden warned Israel that the United States would stop the supply of artillery shells if Israeli troops attacked Rafah.
“If they go into Rafah, I will not give up the weapons that were used … against those cities,” Biden said in a televised interview with CNN.
“We will not give up used ammunition and artillery shells,” he continued.
