“President Joe Biden Poised to Win Nevada Delegates in Democratic Primary as Trump Awaits Thursday Caucuses”

President Joe Biden is expected to win delegates in the Nevada presidential primary, moving closer to securing the Democratic nomination. However, former President Donald Trump will have to wait until Thursday for the state Republican Party caucuses. The polls are set to close at 7 p.m. PT (10 p.m. ET), and while there will be a GOP primary on Tuesday, Republicans have chosen to award their delegates through caucuses. This has caused confusion among Nevada voters.

Despite the confusion, it is clear that both Biden and Trump face minimal opposition and are expected to secure Nevada delegates for their parties’ nominating conventions. Biden’s victory in the Silver State primary comes just three days after he won his first official victory in the South Carolina primary.

Nevada’s first-in-the-West contest now holds the second position on the Democratic calendar, following the demotion of Iowa and New Hampshire. This change was made to ensure a more diverse electorate has a say at the beginning of the Democratic presidential nominating battle.

In the Democratic primary ballot, Biden faces nominal opposition from a dozen candidates, including author Marianne Williamson. However, Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips, another well-known Democratic challenger, is not on the ballot as he entered the race after the state’s filing deadline had passed on October 16.

On the other hand, Republicans are disregarding the outcome of Tuesday’s primary since Trump is not on the ballot. Instead, the state GOP has decided to award its delegates to the winner of party-run caucuses scheduled for Thursday evening.

Overall, Nevada’s primary contests reflect the current dominance of Biden and Trump in their respective parties. While confusion may persist among voters due to the differing methods of delegate allocation, it is evident that both candidates are expected to come out as winners in this crucial stage of the 2024 nominating race.
