President Joe Biden Holds 12-Point Lead over Former President Donald Trump in New York Voting Intention Survey

President Joe Biden leads former President Donald Trump by 12 points in voting intention in New York, according to a recent survey.

The surveyconducted by Siena College and published Tuesday, revealed that 48% of New York voters said they support Biden, while 36% said they support Trump. The remaining 16% stated that they are undecided.

Although it is true that it is a wide difference, It is much smaller than the advantage that Biden gained over Trump in the 2020 presidential elections. In those elections, the Democrat surpassed the Republican by 23 points. However, Biden’s ratings could improve, as he is up two points compared to the same poll conducted last month.

“While Biden has a 12-point lead over Trump in a head-to-head matchup, and leads by 10 points in a four-way race, It’s worth remembering how ‘blue’ New York is.”said Siena College pollster Steven Greenberg.

He added: “Democrats have a 27-point registration advantage over Republicans, Biden beat Trump by 23 points in 2020, and no Republican presidential candidate has won the state since Ronald Reagan in 1984, 40 years ago.”

Nevertheless, the advantage in favor of Biden could be reduced even further, reaching 10 percentage points, if options are expanded with independent candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Cornel West.

Someone different in the White House

This is because if given the option, 41% of voters say they want the next president to be someone other than Biden or Trumpeach of which has the support of 28% of voters in that scenario.

“While 61% of Republicans stay with Trump and 29% want someone else, only 46% of Democrats want Biden, compared to 38% who want another option. “A plurality of white, black and Latino voters want their next president not to be called Biden or Trump,” the pollster added.

However, The presidential race could change significantly if former President Trump is convicted of a federal crime.

In that scenario, 54% of voters say it would make no difference to their vote, while 31% would be less likely to support it and 11% more likely.

Similarly, 65% say impeachment of Biden would have no impact on their vote, compared to 19% who would be least likely and 11% most likely, according to the poll.

“The majority of Republicans and independents say that neither of them would change their vote. The majority of Democrats say the same about impeaching Biden, but only a plurality feels the same about a condemnation of Trump,” Greenberg commented.

Neither Biden nor Trump are fit

The survey also measured opinions about to the mental and physical aptitudes of Biden and Trumpin the middle of the crossfire between the two due to their age.

About that, Only 7% of New York voters think that both Biden and Trump are physically and mentally fit to serve a four-year term, while 32% think that neither of them are suitable, and 35% say that Trump is suitable but Biden is not, and 23% say that Biden is suitable but not Trump. .

Siena College surveyed 806 registered New York voters Feb. 12-14 with a margin of error of 4.2 percentage points.
