LONDON – President Joe Biden brings koper “nuclear football” during a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak ahead of the NATO Summit in Lithuania, Tuesday (11/7/2023).
British media reported that the briefcase containing the command codes for the American nuclear attack was brought by Biden as a bluff message for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The black nuclear strike command briefcase was seen in the hands of Biden’s bodyguards as he left Downing Street or the British PM’s office today.
According to protocol, the “nuclear football” briefcase must always accompany the US president when he is away from the White House to give orders for a nuclear attack at any time if necessary.
Biden met with Sunak in Downing Street today ahead of the NATO summit in Lithuania, the forum that will consider granting membership to Ukraine.
This NATO summit is made even more precarious given Russia’s continued threats to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
Biden made sobering comments about the potential for nuclear escalation in the Ukraine war last Thursday.
“I don’t think there’s such a thing as the ability to easily deploy a tactical nuclear weapon and not end up with Armageddon,” he said.
