President Biden’s Gaffe: Claims to have met President Mitterrand, who died 30 years ago

In one of the repeated situations, US President Joe Biden said that he recently met French President François Mitterrand, who died 30 years ago.

During his speech before a crowd of people in Las Vegas, Nevada, Biden told a story that he had told many times during his presidency, about a meeting he had with French President Emmanuel Macron during the Group of Seven meeting in England, a few months after Biden assumed power in the White House.

Biden recalled, saying: “I sat down and said: America is back. And Mitterrand from Germany – I mean from France – looked at me and said…”

Biden appeared to be lost in his thoughts before gathering them together to finish the sentence, saying: “Well, how long will you be back?”

Biden continued, saying, “The German Chancellor asked him how he – and therefore the United States – would react if thousands of people stormed, hypothetically, the British House of Commons and killed two British police officers, to stop the election of the Prime Minister.”

It is noteworthy that François Mitterrand was President of France between 1981 and 1995. He died in 1996.
