“President Biden Honors Fallen Dominican Officers with Medal of Valor”

Wilbert Mora y Jason Rivera, Two Dominican officers who died in New York in January 2022 after answering a call for domestic violence in Harlem, received a posthumous tribute this Wednesday from the president of the U.S. Joe Biden.

The president paid tribute to the officers killed with the Medal of Valor, the United States’ highest honor for public safety officers.

Biden presented the same medal to the police officer who shot Lashawn McNeil, 47, the man who murdered the two Dominicans.

“Our nation will be forever indebted to their loved ones and the sacrifice they made on behalf of their fellow citizens,” Biden said before presenting the medals to Mora’s mother and Rivera’s widow.

Biden had already paid tribute to the officers, in his State of the Union address and last year when he visited New York City, he also met with the relatives of both officers.
