The President of the Republic Bernardo Arévalo dedicated a few words to the triumph of badminton player Kevin Cordón on his official “X” account.

“Thank you Kevin, because you teach a people the importance of persevering, of continuing to fight, of honoring our flag,” said the president.

He also highlighted that after his victory in the Pan American Games he also had another medal: “the love of the people,” he pointed out.

According to the scoring of the game, Kevin Cordón wins the men’s singles title of the XXVII Yonex PAN AM Individual Championships Guatemala 2024 after beating Uriel Canjura of El Salvador 2-1 (14-21, 21-17 and 21-13).

“Thank God I was given this opportunity again, there were moments where the technical part and the physical part became secondary, it was the desire to win that made my legs move faster. The desire to win was stronger,” said Cordón.

Regarding his classification, he assured that he cannot officially say that he is already in the Olympic Games, because they have to wait for the world ranking.

“Kevin Cordón and Guatemala are going to be in the Olympic Games and what better way than to close like this at home,” he said.
