President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced additional resources for Baja California Sur – around 600 million pesos – after Governor Víctor Castro asked him for help for works because the State, he said, is “screwed.”
López Obrador announced that 32 lots that Fonatur gave to the Army in BCS will be put up for sale, so that this money can be used for two infrastructure works that Castro requested: a bridge and a new highway.
During a welfare program event in the capital of BCS, which started more than two hours late due to AMLO’s delay, Governor Castro took the opportunity to request two works in the State due to the lack of state budget to carry them out.
“I don’t want to leave without making a proposal to the President, look President, there is an area (…) where we occupy a bridge (in Santa Cruz) that can be done before you leave; it is very important, it costs around 176 millions and we are very screwed, so we don’t have that money,” he said.
“I thought he was in the house,” he added, smiling.
“And the other is a race (…) from Punta Eugenia to Bahía de Tortugas. It is 27 kilometers and the President can do it before he leaves.”
Castro also asked the Ministry of Public Education, whose head, Leticia Ramírez, was present, a program of places for the entity’s teachers.
In response, the President instructed the Secretary of the Navy to sell 32 lots that had been transferred to him by Fonatur to donate the resources obtained, around 600 million pesos, to the Government of Baja California Sur.
During an event, the President clarified that the resources will be used to build both the bridge and the road proposed by the Governor.
The construction of the Santa Cruz Bridge, he reported, is estimated to have a cost of 166 million pesos, while the road is budgeted at 450 million pesos.
“It has already been decided that those 32 lots are going to be donated by the Secretary of the Navy to the Government of Baja California and those lots are valued at close to 600 million pesos, and all that money is going to be delivered to the Government of Baja California Sur,” it said. Admiral (Rafael) Ojeda is going to hand it over to Master Víctor (Manuel Castro),” he indicated.
The lots, explained the Tabasco native, had been transferred by Fonatur, which owns tourist properties in Baja California Sur, to the Secretary of the Navy so that it could occupy them.
However, now they must be sold and the proceeds of that transaction will be delivered to the Morenoist governor.
“As soon as we have 585 million pesos, almost 600, Admiral Ojeda will come as soon as possible to deliver those funds to the Governor of Baja California Sur, to teacher Víctor, and these two works will be carried out,” López Obrador emphasized.
The Chief Executive also announced the signing of an agreement with the State to continue with the basification of the entity’s teaching staff
“We are going to launch a basification plan. We are going to sign an agreement and little by little. The basification will be delivered in accordance with seniority,” he commented.
“Do not worry about the future because the future is ours. The transformation is assured to continue, there is a replacement. There is a replacement and the transformation will continue.”
The mornings sing to him, but they go away
The delay in the start of the event, after López Obrador was at the report of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila in Baja California, forced the organizers to improvise to try to prevent people, mostly older adults, from not attending. out.
Juices and horns were distributed, and an assistant was even asked to sing to entertain.
He performed songs by Vicente Fernández, los Angeles Azules and Eros Ramazzotti at the Arena La Paz.
But that did not stop dozens of people from leaving the place; When AMLO arrived, after more than two hours of delay, and four hours of waiting for the elderly, there were entire rows unoccupied in the stands.
Those who stayed, among them dozens of servants of the nation, sang a cappella the mañanitas to the President, since tomorrow he turns 70 years old. AMLO thanked the gesture by sending hugs.
