After Mexicana de Aviación restarted operations this December 26, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that, unlike when it was privatized, the airline will be managed with efficiency and honesty, and “it will not be managed by thieves.”
In his morning conference this Tuesday at the National Palace, and after the restart of operations of the new military airline, López Obrador accused that Mexicana de Aviación was privatized during the six-year term of Vicente Fox. He also accused that businessman Gastón Azcárraga Andrade managed “very bad” the airline and bankrupted it.

“We are talking about 2000, we are already finishing the 23rd and shortly after Mexicana is handed over to Mr. Azcárraga. Then this Mr. Azcárraga manages the company very poorly, the bankruptcy, because that is also the concern of our adversaries. ‘Is Mexicana going to run efficiently now?’
“The answer is yes, because it will be handled honestly, thieves will not handle it,” he stated at the National Palace.
