“Don’t hesitate, get vaccinated.” With that message, via Twitter, the President of the Nation, Alberto Fernández, received a reinforcement of the vaccination scheme against the coronavirus, with a new dose of Sputnik V. “It is important that each and every one of us complete the schemes and give ourselves the reinforcements to sustain this epidemiological situation and continue to grow,” the head of state wrote.
The booster dose was confirmed by the Presidential Medical Unit, which in a statement signed by the doctor Federico Saavedra, confirmed that Fernández received a third Sputnik vaccine.
The president had received the first anticovid vaccine on January 22 at the Posadas Hospital, the place where the national vaccination campaign began, back in December 2020. On that occasion, Fernández had been inoculated after the ANMAT authorized the application to people over 60 years of age.
Third dose
As reported by the Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti, the country began to apply third doses against coronavirus in late October. First on the list were immunocompromised peopleregardless of the vaccine received, and those over 50 who have applied the Sinopharm formula, so that they can complete the basic immunization scheme that, unlike the rest of the population, does not consist of 2 doses but 3.
For example, in December it began the application of booster doses to the rest of society that with 2 doses did complete the basic immunization plan –that is, it reached a sufficient level of immunity – but that needs, over time, an extra dose to strengthen the protective effect. For this, the priorities of the campaign that were originally established are respected, so the first to receive the reinforcement were the members of the health establishment.
