Mr. President Bashar al-Assad discussed with Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, the practical steps and procedures to be taken. It can have a direct impact and results on the course of recovery from the repercussions left by the earthquake disaster in various sectors, and at the same time contribute to securing appropriate conditions for the return of more Syrian refugees to their cities and villages.
President al-Assad and Griffiths discussed international efforts to support these steps and measures to help Syrians overcome the effects of war and earthquake, and to promote stability in Syria and the return of Syrians to their lives and jobs.
Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, met with Griffiths and the accompanying delegation, where they reviewed and discussed various aspects of cooperation between the Syrian national authorities on the one hand and the United Nations, its organs and agencies on the other, especially with regard to alleviating the suffering of the Syrians in facing the effects and repercussions of the earthquake that struck Syria.
