President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi returned to the homeland after participating in the second African-Russian Summit, which was held in St. Petersburg, in the Russian Federation.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in a meeting in St. Petersburg with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as leaders of African countries participating in the African mediation initiative to settle the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that during the meeting, the leaders followed up on the developments of the African initiative for mediation between Russia and Ukraine, stressing that Africa has a fundamental interest in working to end this conflict, given its huge negative effects on a number of vital sectors, such as food and energy security. And international financing, where it was agreed to continue intensive work to advance the African initiative by crystallizing the necessary mechanisms to encourage the Russian and Ukrainian sides to engage in it positively during the coming period.
