On Tuesday morning, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi declared three days of mourning, following the two humanitarian disasters resulting from the earthquake in Morocco and the hurricane in Libya.
The Egyptian presidency said, in a statement on its official website, that Sisi met this morning with a number of leaders of the armed forces.
She added: “Al-Sisi offers his sincere condolences on his behalf and on behalf of the Egyptian people for the victims of the humanitarian catastrophe in Morocco and Libya.”
She continued: “Declaring three days of mourning in the Arab Republic of Egypt in solidarity with our brothers in Morocco and Libya, for the victims of the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from the earthquake in Morocco and the hurricane in Libya.”
She pointed out that “the Egyptian President directed the armed forces to provide immediate support and humanitarian relief, by air and sea, to the brothers in Libya and Morocco.”
She explained that Sisi also directed the armed forces to provide all forms of humanitarian support, including relief kits, rescue equipment, and shelter camps for those affected, in cooperation and coordination with Libyan and Moroccan agencies and institutions.
Al-Sisi affirmed “Egypt’s full solidarity and standing alongside the brothers in Morocco and Libya.”
