Ciamis News, (harapanrakyat.com),– Yayasan Sentul Ciung Wanara plans to hold silat ayam Sentul at the cockfighting location of the Ciung Wanara Site, Karangkamulyan Village, Cijeungjing District, Ciamis Regency, West Java.
This was stated by Nurmutaqin, chairman of the Sentul Ciung Wanara Foundation when he visited the location of the Sentul Chicken Breeding Center, Ciamis Livestock and Fisheries Service, Wednesday (11/24/2021).
According to Nurmutaqin, the people of Ciamis should be proud because the Sentul chicken was confirmed as a typical Ciamis chicken by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2013.
“Efforts to preserve the typical Ciamis chicken we build a container named Sentul Ciung Wanara Foundation. This foundation is an association of Ciamis typical chicken breeders, especially Sentul chickens as a forum for exchanging ideas,” he said.

Nurmutaqin said that in addition to accommodating breeders, the foundation was formed due to concerns because the Sentul chicken population is decreasing every year in Ciamis Regency.
“The development of Sentul chickens is even in other districts/cities. So this phenomenon must be addressed by continuing to develop Sentul chickens in their natural habitat, namely in Ciamis Regency, “he said.
Nurmutaqin also said he would embrace the kabuyutan in Ciamis Regency. He will distribute Sentul chicken for free to them.
“In addition to encouraging the Sentul chicken population, we are also raising its cultural values. It is said that at the Ciung Wanara site there was a cockfighting place during the royal era. We will bring this up again with the Sentul Chicken Silat to introduce the community to its historical value,” he said.
He also invited the people of Ciamis to preserve the typical Sentul chicken of Ciamis so that their children and grandchildren could see their ancestral heritage.
“It is our moral responsibility to work hand in hand to help preserve this Sentul chicken. Besides that, it can also improve the economy in the community in Sentul chicken cultivation because it has high economic value,” he concluded. (Fahmi / R7 / HR-Online / Editor-Ndu)
