In order not to seal more and more agricultural land and thereby take away part of the farmers’ livelihood, the Darmstadt-Dieburg district wants to ensure in future planning that the existing areas are optimally used for settlements and transport and that they are ecologically upgraded. This is what the first district councilor Lutz Köhler (CDU) promised the farmers from the district during various company visits.
The proportion of agricultural land is decreasing, particularly in metropolitan areas such as the Rhine-Main area, said Köhler, according to a statement. These areas are extremely important for the preservation of biological diversity and should therefore be preserved as much as possible.
