The annual autumn indoor car-moto exchange Retro Garáž has its own tradition in the Czech Republic, which has been spiced up by auctions of vintage cars for a few years now. In that time, she has had several interesting pieces that have sold for really high prices.

The top seven has the potential to go over three million, if not five.
For example, the Tatra T613 Special went for CZK 1,420,000, the Tatra 13 flatbed cost CZK 1,810,000, the almost new Škoda 100 De Luxe cost CZK 1,850,000, the Wikov 7/28 flatbed charmed a new buyer at up to CZK 1,650,000, while the taxi Tatra 54 was auctioned for 1,420,000 CZK. And we are not talking about motorcycles, especially the Jawa 500 types, which were sold for around a million crowns each.
Now, however, a potential auction record is at stake, because a preserved Tatra T700 from 1996, i.e. a car from the first series of the last Kopřivnica passenger cars, will go up for auction. Let us remind you that the 700s, as an evolution of the T613, were designed and built in only seven months and how many times they were worked on at night.

The development of the T700 itself took approximately 7 months, which is a very short time.
The cars were basically assembled by hand, assembled from parts that could be found where. So it is not surprising that the vehicle has Range Rover mirrors, a climate control panel adapted from BMW or a ceiling lamp from Omega. And if you look at the alarm clocks, you will probably realize which Škoda it comes from.
Anyway, in the list of manufactured T700s, under the VIN code TMT 613 018 TP 012026, the sixth produced Tatra T700 from the T700-1 series in silver color is hidden, while the first owner was the Ministry of Health, registered in the Tatra registers as Fa Kadlec Praha (MZ CR). It is interesting to note that even the fifth produced piece of the first series in the same color went to the service of this ministry.

The auctioned piece has a classic 3.5-liter eight-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower at the back.
In December 2002, the car changed hands and came into private hands, which also deal with renovations, servicing and sales of these now veterans. According to available information, the model has received an extensive service and is ready for operation without further necessary investments.
The condition of the model is assessed by Pavel Kočí, head retro garage, as perfect, with minor cosmetic flaws caused by the vehicle’s age and operation. The engine here is a standard 200-horsepower 3.5-liter V8 located in the rear, while a five-speed manual takes care of the shifting.

The equipment includes, for example, a four-spoke steering wheel, half-leather seats, wooden trim, digital climate control, a car radio, rear armrest, front fog lights and five-spoke alloy wheels.
The Tatra T700 will be auctioned at a public auction on the occasion of the autumn auto-moto fair called Retro Garage, which will take place on November 11, 2023 at the Exhibition Center in Lysá nad Labem. The starting price of the silver sedan will be 1,750,000 CZK, but the upper limit of sales is estimated at 5,000,000 CZK. So let’s see if the T700 becomes the most expensive car auctioned in the entire history of these auctions.
