– I’m excited. I have never done anything like this, says Solvang to VG’s reporter, shortly after the news was released.
Solvang and Ravn say that they are both happy and surprised that they are the ones who will lead the programme
– Someone has thought creatively, because I don’t think I would have come up with this composition myself. We come from different worlds, but at the same time I think that can make it exciting, says Solvang.
Solvang says that he is excited about how it will be to go from the Debate to the MGP universe, especially considering how “stiff” the system will be.
– My only small wish is that we don’t stray too far from what happens here in the Debate, Solvang answers questions about what he should wear.
Raven, on the other hand, is currently a judge in Maskorama.
– I can’t think of anything else. It’s good that the Grand Prix isn’t until after the New Year, says a smiling Marion Ravn.

– Far from what I normally do
Also in a press release VG has seen, Solvang emphasizes that he is very happy:
– I take it as a great challenge to lead NRK’s biggest entertainment programme, says Solvang, and adds:
– It is far from what I normally do, so I approach the task with curiosity and humility. I’ve never done anything like this before.
We are most used to seeing him in the debate studio of NRK, where he has led the Debate for a number of years.
Now he will lead MGP 2024. With him on the team he has Marion Ravn – who will also lead the show for the very first time.
– It was a great honor to be asked. This is one of the biggest things you can be a part of, says Ravn.

– Spinnvill presenter duo
The first of three semi-finals in MGP 2024 will take place on Saturday 13 January in NRK’s premises at Marienlyst in Oslo.
– This is a spunky presenter duo. I would like to think that many people will be surprised by this combination, says project manager for MGP, Mads Tørklep.
About Solvang’s transition from debate studio to music show, he says the following:
– Through many years in Debatten, Fredrik has become one of the country’s most popular and experienced presenters. It may well be that some people put their coffee down their throats when they hear that he is taking the step into Norway’s biggest entertainment show, but I am convinced that Fredrik will cope well. He loves MGP and will love being a part of glam and showbiz.
A total of 18 artists will be involved. The winner will be chosen in the grand final in Trondheim Spektrum on Saturday 3 February.
In addition to the aforementioned presenters, Markus Neby will also be seen on the screen. He will act as an outgoing reporter.
This happens with the Debate
The debate will continue on NRK in the new year, but then it will be without Solvang.
However, Solvang emphasizes to VG that this is not a matter of a new career path, and says that he will go straight back to Debatten after MGP.
In his absence, NRK presenters Nina Owing and Atle Bjurstrøm will alternate leading the broadcasts.
– Fredrik will be back in the Debate studio when the MGP job is completed in the first half of February, says Knut Magnus Berge, news editor at NRK.
