A new face is bringing the Oktoberfest into Munich’s living rooms on television screens. Corinna Binzer is hosting for the first time with veteran Alex Onken. The presenter in conversation:

Munich – When she got a call in the spring, a dream came true: Actress and cabaret artist Corinna Binzer (56) immediately said yes to hosting the 189th Oktoberfest for television from the Paulaner tent with Alex Onken. Why she is a Wiesn pro, what she is giving up for it and which guest she is looking forward to… Hallo asked.

Mrs. Binzer, are you already in Oktoberfest fever?

And how! I’ve been counting down the days for weeks until it finally starts.

What is your connection to Oktoberfest?

As a child, I went to Theresienwiese with my grandmother after school. Grandpa had free stamps, he got gingerbread, I got half a chicken, a giant pretzel, lemonade, and a candy apple. I was allowed to ride the tumbler, swing carousel, and devil’s wheel. Later, from 1994, I worked as a waitress in the Löwenbräu tent for 13 years – in the box.

This year you will be hosting

I feel like Alice in Wonderland. I’m so lucky to have been cast at my age (laughs), against the youth craze.

What can the audience expect?

Above all, I want to bring my love of the Oktoberfest into everyone’s living room, to hug and hold the hands of people watching TV, especially those who can’t be there in person, and celebrate the Oktoberfest with them at home.

You can also welcome guests.

And suggest! My dream guest is Torsten Sträter. Because I’m presenting, I’ll miss his show at Circus Krone. With a heavy heart, I gave the ticket to my son-in-law – but maybe Torsten will stop by the tent?

You’re hosting for 16 days. How many dirndls do you have for that?

I was able to choose 16 dirndls from Inntaler Trachtenwelt, made of velvet, lace, with blouse and apron. You can see me in light blue, royal blue, moss green, pink, cream… I only had one condition: no red lipstick. I don’t like that.

What do you wish for?

A peaceful, respectful Oktoberfest! And maybe Marianne & Michael will sing a yodel together on our show!
