An event for the presentation of the album “Folk Musical Traditions in the Municipality of North Tzoumerka” is organized by the Municipality of North Tzoumerka on Wednesday, January 31, at 7 pm, in the Hall of the Cultural Center “Dim. Hadji”.
This is an album, which resulted from a thorough scientific research and is a record of the history of the folk song and the popular musicians in the area of Katsanochoria and Tzoumerka.
The seed for its creation fell from the former municipal councilor Yiannis Stavrou to the former mayor of Northern Tzoumerka Yiannis Sendele, with the implementation being assigned to the Department of Music Studies of the University of Ioannina, which had previous experience and could approach the subject scientifically.
The publication came as a continuation of the research, which was done to record the municipal musical tradition in the Municipality of Northern Tzoumerka, which was financed by the program “Local Development with the Initiative of Local Communities CLLD/LEADER”.
The music album contains a volume of texts, photographic material from festivals, shots of the communities, landscapes, etc., as well as four accompanying CDs of folk songs of the region, some of which were recorded during the organization of various events during the previous summer season, from music companies active in the wider area and some come from earlier unreleased recordings.
The general scientific editor of the album was the associate professor at the Department of Music Studies of the University of Ioannina, musicologist Giorgos Kokkonis, and the work was done by Phd ethnomusicologist Haris Sarris, Phd musicologist Spilios Kounas, PhD candidate, musicologist Marianthi Koilia and musicologist Nikos Bakhtis.
The emeritus professor of folklore at the Department of History, Archeology and Social Anthropology of the University of Thessaly Evangelos Avdikos, the music researcher and editor of music publications Nikos Dionysopoulos and the associate professor at the Department of Music Studies of the University of Ioannina Giorgos Kokkonis will talk about the book. Doctor of music pedagogy Yiannis Stavrou will coordinate.
