Preparing U-17 Indonesian National Team for 2023 U-17 World Cup

Jakarta

U-17 Indonesian National Team is currently being pushed physically ahead of competing in 2023 U-17 World Cup. It is hoped that Garuda Muda can implement the European team’s playing style.

This was conveyed by the Technical Director PSSI, Frank Wormuth. The German coach has been appointed as advisor to the U-17 National Team since July 2023.

Nearly two months into observing the U-17 national team, the former coach of the German U-20 national team revealed that Iqbal Gwijangge cs had quite good potential.

National team U-17 has undergone several trials. As a result, Bima Sakti’s team lost to Barcelona Juvenil A with a score of 0-3 and fell 0-1 to South Korea.

To welcome the U-17 World Cup, Indonesia will undergo a training camp in Germany from September 17 to mid-October 2023. The players’ physique will be the focus of improvement.

“I see that they all have good qualities and that is important. They can all play the ball well but to play in a tournament, you need good physicality. And to improve physically it takes time. This is what we are working on at the moment,” said Frank in a release received by detikSport.

“We are trying to apply the European style of football without forgetting the Indonesian style of football. So we have to combine these existing cultures and let’s see what will happen. There are still several positions that we have to fill, that’s why we are doing a mini game selection and also testing “Try for all players. Maybe we will find players who can fill and complete the best 11 or best 20 for the tournament later from this selection,” he said again.
