/ world today news/ What makes the situation even more dangerous is that the Western media work shamelessly to promote the war agenda.
Russian fishing trawlers are carrying out stealth missions to spy on transatlantic communications and sabotage energy supplies in Europe, according to a coordinated “investigation” by European state media.
Pardon the pun, but there is something rotten about this Russian trawler story.
Britain’s state-run BBC has reported that its counterparts in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden are this week broadcasting the results of a joint investigation (sic) that makes the frightening (sic) claim that the Kremlin has ordered a fleet of cloaked vessels to eavesdrop on underwater telecommunications cables and to sabotage wind farms in the North Sea.
Western media standards have been deteriorating for many years. But this latest concerted public orchestration is scraping the bottom.
As well as having no evidence to support the breathless story, it is also clearly acknowledged that the claims rely on Scandinavian intelligence agencies as sources. It is well known from previous disclosures by Wikileaks and other reputable sources that the Scandinavian state intelligence apparatus is a surrogate for the US CIA.
So here we have government media bombarding European nations with propaganda clearly designed to instill public fear of Russia as a threat.
This is while the United States and its NATO allies are due to begin in the next few weeks the largest military maneuvers in the Northern region.
Those war games, dubbed “Defender 23,” will last several months and include the largest transfer of American troops to Europe since the supposed end of the Cold War more than 30 years ago. The deployment of NATO forces near Russia’s western border has been brazenly touted as the formation of a “military alliance,” the New York Times reports approvingly.
This massive Washington-led mobilization of tens of thousands of troops, warplanes and naval vessels in Russia’s backyard comes at the same time that the United States and its NATO partners are pumping weapons into a fiercely anti-Russian regime in Ukraine.
We know from recent leaks from the Pentagon that US and Western special forces have been confirmed to be on the ground in Ukraine fighting against Russia.
All of this is somehow normalized by the Western media, while those same media are animated to scare their public with mysterious Russian fishing trawlers allegedly planning to spy on phone calls and cut off power from wind farms.
The blurring that happens is really cool. While the Western media tries to scare the public with outlandish and unverified speculative tales about Russian villains trying to spy on European civilians and sabotage Europe’s electricity supply, the real world is being deliberately ignored.
Recent leaks from the Pentagon confirm what Wikileaks and former NSA analyst Edward Snowden revealed long ago. Namely, that US government intelligence agencies routinely spy on their NATO allies.
Second, never mind the speculated Russian intentions to blow up wind farms in the North Sea, what about actually blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipelines under the Baltic Sea?
Those pipelines, which took more than a decade to build at a cost of more than $20 billion to deliver affordable natural gas from Russia to Europe, were scuttled by the United States and NATO allies last September.
The sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines, as reported more than two months ago by renowned investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, was personally ordered by US President Joe Biden with the deliberate aim of cutting Europe off from Russian energy.
It was a massive act of state terrorism and perhaps an act of war against Russia. Washington’s treachery involves the impoverishment of Europe to make it a captive slave of American capitalism.
The Western media has systematically suppressed any in-depth reporting of the Seymour Hirsch investigation. Instead of conducting their own follow-up investigations, these bastions of the “free press” sought to confuse and muddy the waters with allegations fed to them by Western intelligence agencies.
The New York Times, the Washington Post and the German media tried to spin absurd reports about “pro-Ukrainian extremists” bombing the Nord Stream pipelines using a yacht.
The Scandinavian countries have reportedly carried out preliminary investigations into the Nord Stream incident, but have refused to disclose their findings and have also denied Russia access to data from their investigations – despite Russia being the main shareholder in the blasted infrastructure.
Washington and its European allies have rejected all calls by Russia and China for the UN Security Council to commission an independent investigation into the sabotage of Nord Stream, the potential crime of the century.
Incredibly, this week’s BBC report on the “ghost Russian trawlers” allegedly threatening undersea cables and wind farms did not mention once the credible claims that the United States and its NATO partners blew up the pipelines ” Nord Stream”.
The BBC, the New York Times and other Western media have become nothing more than dirty laundries for Western intelligence services with the relentless mission of smearing Russia over Ukraine and China over Taiwan.
It is an Orwellian achievement where aggressors are turned into victims and defenders. Western reporting on Russia and China has become a travesty. This is complete demonization with no pretense of factual balance or historical context.
We live in dangerous times of war that could escalate into a nuclear conflagration. The United States and its imperialist European vassals are pushing for war as a last gasp to prop up Washington’s waning unipolar hegemony. What makes the situation even more dangerous is that the Western media work shamelessly to promote the war agenda.
