Preparing for a Crazy Arab War, Netanyahu Brings Out a New Threat

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The war in the Middle East region is still going on. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu even said in his latest statement that he would continue Israel’s war in Gaza and Lebanon. Hopes for peace were dashed even though the leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, was killed.

At the same time, the Lebanese group Hezbollah promised to increase the fight against Israel and its sponsor, Iran, saying that the spirit of resistance was strengthened by the death of its Palestinian ally, Sinwar, in Gaza.

Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7, 2023 attack that triggered the Gaza war, was killed during an Israeli army operation in the Palestinian enclave.

After Sinwar’s killing, Netanyahu vowed to continue the war, which has expanded in recent weeks from fighting the Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza, to attacking and bombing southern Lebanon. on much of the country.

“The war, my brothers, is not over,” Netanyahu told the Israeli people, citing Reuters, Friday (18/10/2024).

He also said that the fighting would continue until the guards that Hamas had were released. “We have a great opportunity to stop the axis of evil and create a different future,” he said.

Netanyahu’s views differ from those of Western leaders, including US President Joe Biden, who have said Sinwar’s death offers an opportunity to end the conflict.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the United States wanted to start ceasefire talks and ensure the release of the hostages.

“Obviously that hurdle has been removed. I can’t predict that that means whoever replaces (Sinwar) will agree to a truce, but this gives gone which has been a big obstacle over the past months to get a break,” he said.

Sinwar, the leader of Hamas after the assassination of political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July, is believed to have been hiding in tunnels built by Hamas underground in Gaza over the past two decades.

He was killed in a firefight by Israeli forces who did not realize at first that they had captured their greatest enemy, Israeli officials said.

The Israeli military released a drone video showing Sinwar sitting on a chair and covered in dust inside a destroyed building. He was found by drones as he lay dying. As the drone hovers nearby, the video shows him throwing a stick at it, in desperation.

Hamas has not commented, but sources within the group said they saw signs that Sinwar was indeed killed.
