Coach Indonesian U-24 National Team Indra Sjafri revealed the team’s preparation problems after winning 2-0 over Kyrgyzstan in the first match of Group F Asian Games 2023Tuesday (19/9) evening Indonesian time.

“You can imagine us gathering directly in China, there is no TC [pemusatan latihan] in Indonesia. “We called the players and gathered at the hotel here,” said Indra after the match.

“Yesterday we came with 15 players and today five players came. We only have 20 players because two of our players are still injured,” he continued.

The Garuda Muda team has actually gathered to carry out TC in Jakarta since September 7. However, the players who took part in the TC were not complete because there were players who strengthened the Indonesian National Team and the U-23 Indonesian National Team.

Indra Sjafri then experienced problems again because Persib Bandung player Beckham Putra was injured and Ramadhan Sananta was not released because Persis Solo was experiencing a striker crisis.

As a result, the U-24 Indonesian National Team went to the 2023 Asian Games with a squad that was not ideal. However, this difficult situation did not prevent Ramai Rumakiek and his friends from achieving their first victory.

Despite the difficulties experienced, Indra Sjafri still expressed his gratitude to the club for releasing players to strengthen the Indonesian U-24 National Team at the 2024 Asian Games.

“Once again, thank you to the club coach, even though there is no TC, we can still achieve,” said the coach who led Indonesia to win the 2022 SEA Games gold medal.
